Antigua

I was working in Antigua between July 21st and September 24th 2002
FYI the "U" is silent and so it is pronounced "Antiga"

The following pictures were taken all around St Johns, the capital city of Antigua (except for the Windmill at Betty's Hope). As well as having many contemporary/modern buildings, I chose to photograph older Antiguan architecture. As you can see they have a distinctive Caribbean flavor.

A small selection of pictures from areas near some of the hotels I stayed in. Most are from Dickenson Bay in the north while the last picture is from Long Bay on the eastern coast/Atlantic side. Despite facing the Atlantic Ocean, the waters at Long Bay are very calm. (Sept 2002)

The following pictures were taken during J'Ouvert Morning (pronounced "jewvay" it's french patois for "opening day"). The ultimate Caribbean party culminating from a weeks worth of Carnival celebrations. The party lasts all night but realy starts when it hits the streets around 4:00AM until early afternoon the next day. A real blast! (Aug 6th 2002)
